There are a lot of methods for caring extra magazines (ammo) and other gear for the AK47 rifle. Here are a few I use, some pictures and quick reviews of each style

This is the gear we used at the Tucson, Arizona American Confederation of Tactical Shooters (A.C.T.S.) monthly match at Pima Pistol Club. This is a Eagle Industries / SKD Universal chest rig with an S.O.Tech Battle Load Carry System (BLoCS) Small Zippered Medical Pouch and an Army surplus magazine pouch (Desert camo). We shot an AK47 with VTAC sling and an S&W M&P 45 (dark earth). The chest rig held three 30 round AK47 magazines (it can hold 8 max) and two pistol magazines (four pistol mags max). Attached on the shooters left (right in photo) is the S.O. Tech BLoCKS Zippered Medical Pouch with a tourniquet and emergency bandage. On the shooters right (left in pic) is an Army surplus magazine pouch (Desert camo) with a Benchmade 155 SBK under half of it (behind pistol in pic)

We had a chance to photograph another AK47 collection. This one has some imported AK47s and a few mock ups of various AK47 types made with US receivers and Romanian G kits along with US triggers and gas pistons and various original parts that let the rifles look like the originals they are built to emulate

The stamped AK47 receiver is made from a flat sheet of steel. It is pressed and bent into the shape to hold the rest of the parts together in an AK47. They are well designed, efficient and strong. Here are some quick reviews of various AK47 stamped receivers used to build an AK47

This is the hard to find operating instructions booklet for the MGD1 75 round drum magazine for the 7.62x39mm cartridge. These AK47 drum magazines were made in China and have not been imported since 1994. They are now very expensive and harder and harder to find, finding one with its manual is very rare. Here is a scan of the images and text of the manual and some photos of the various Chinese Drums available
